Where Oh Where Are We Heading To..?!

Ok this one is just my view on what i think the next generation is like.....
Orkut,Facebook etc..what wonderful networks !!....lets you keep in touch with friends,...get connected with people you haven't met in absolutely ages.It Also however lets you take those annoying quizzes and poke people and let people into your world...But what caught my eye today is how the younger generation.. ( well.Okay! Im one of them too..but there can be exceptions,rite?)..views the world....!
I read a random note that a certain person wrote who will remain unnamed, its his take on the world, which includes playstations, being on the net all day and getting his girlfriend to call him via means of telling their mutual friends to call her and tell her to call him.either way this is not what Im on about....what surprised me more is how aware these teenagers are..all I read was about Kohl pencils needed, parlours not being open on a set day and how inconvenient it is as the hair cannot be done...how happening or boring the former day's party was.!
Are Kids who are born with a silver spoon so superficial??....and not aware of what the world needs.??.. don't get me wrong.Im not saying that one should ignore technology and go on protests all the time....am just asking are these YOUNGSTERS- Our future....??what kind of future would that be...just of being self aware....and not bothered about anything else that really matters...Is this generation going to be known for being skinny couch potatoes!..who want to be famous but only in rapping or being on TV!???my question is if everyone is on TV, who does the watching???
Now I know many of you will say this isn't so, and there are millions of kids who re-cycle and help the needy, run marathons for cancer re-search, volunteer on a regular basis... may I add that I am not talking about these kids...!
Let me give you bit of background about where I am coming from and why this shocks me sooo much!!!...I grew up with parents who gave me the best they could but also showed me that there are people less privileged than I was, and also more privileged than I was...I was taught not to take things for granted and that however small the act, it can make a difference.
It pains me to see that things that we should be aware of, teenagers in my country who are born in a very well to do families( cream of the society) aren't shown this...or maybe its just teenagers that I know....!
I maybe completely wrong blogging this...
but maybe, just maybe ..... someone reading this will stop and think if they have done something today for someone other than themselves!
